  • Cornstarch - Cornstarch helps to give the brownie a chewy texture.
  • Baking Powder
  • Butter - I've used salted and unsalted butter.
  • Sugar - This recipe calls for granulated or white sugar, not brown sugar.
  • Chopped Walnuts - Although walnuts are my favorite in brownies, you can substitute any kind of nut, including pecans and almonds.

How to make gooey, fudgy brownies

Step 1: Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line an 8 by 8-inch square pan with parchment paper and spray with cooking spray.

Step 2: In a small mixing bowl, combine flour, cocoa powder, salt, cornstarch, and baking powder.

Step 3: In a medium saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Remove from the heat and whisk in sugar, eggs, and vanilla.

Step 4: With a wooden spoon, stir in the dry ingredients. Mix in chopped walnuts and spread the brownie mixture evenly into the prepared baking dish. Be careful not to over-mix the brownies.

Step 5: Bake for 20 - 25 minutes, being careful not to overbake. Bake time will vary depending on the type of pan and your oven.

How to store leftover brownies

Fridge: Room temperature leftover brownies can be stored in an airtight container for 3 - 4 days. I wrap each brownie individually in plastic wrap before storing them in an airtight container or zip-top bag.

Freezer: Store in an airtight container after they have cooled completely.

  • Quality Ingredients: Start with high-quality ingredients, including good-quality cocoa powder, real butter, fresh eggs, and premium chocolate. Using fresh walnuts will also enhance the flavor and texture of your brownies.

  • Chop Walnuts: Don't chop the walnuts too fine. I love a bite of brownie with a big walnut included!

How to serve
