Plowe, 63, a housekeeper at Kelly Inn, died Tuesday, May 10, 1994, in an automobile accident, north of Corson. Rose Plienis was born Jan. 17, 1931, in Napoleon, N.D. She moved with her family to Jamestown, N.D., when she was young.

She attended schools in Napoleon and Rose Plowe Jamestown. She married Phillip Plowe on Feb. 22, 1948, in Jamestown. They lived in Jamestown until 1962, when they moved to Sioux Falls. For several years, she provided private in-home nursing care to several people.

For the past five years, she was employed in the Housekeeping Department at the Kelly Inn. Survivors include her husband, Phillip of rural Crooks; one daughter, Mrs. Clarence (Linda) Mertens of Sioux Falls; three grandchildren; four brothers: Alvin and Raymond, both of Green Valley, Wilbert and Calvin, both of Sioux Falls; and two sisters: Frances Diede of Vergas, and Betty Crawford of Baltimore. Services will begin at 3 p.m. Friday in Miller Funeral Home, with burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens in Jamestown.

Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. today in the funeral home. Alvin Claussen MITCHELL Alvin "Dean" Claussen, 82, a retired fireman, died Tuesday, May 10, 1994, in the Brady Memorial Home in Mitchell. Mr. Claussen was born Dec.

8, 1911, in Alberta, Canada. He married Mary Seiders on Dec. 9, 1934, in Wentworth. He operated Claussen Welding and Blacksmith Shop in Mitchell, from 1945 to 1956. He was employed by the Mitchell Fire Department for about 30 years and had served as fire chief.

Survivors include his wife, Mary of Mitchell; two sons: Arthur D. of Folsom, and Lloyd of Mitchell; three daughters: Mrs. Donald (Donna) Brown of Mesa, Darlene Frank of Sioux Falls; and Mrs. Rex (Lois) Town of Globe, 21 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; one brother, Everett of Sequim, and one sister, Alma Buising of Rapid City. Services will begin at 10:30 a.m.

Chad Plooster PUKWANA Chad David Plooster, 16, died Sunday, May 8, 1994, in an automobile accident near Platte. Chad Plooster was born May 20, 1977, in Aberdeen. He moved with his parents to the Pukwana area, as an infant.

He attended Chamberlain Elementary School and was a sophom*ore at Chamberlain High School. He was a member of Boots and Saddle 4-H Club; the high-school football team; Pukwana Lutheran Church, Sunday school and Luther League. Survivors include his parents, Dennis and Sandi Plooster of Pukwana; two brothers: Travis and Jarrod, both of Pukwana; and grandparents: Orin and Marie Kok and Julius and Lorraine Plooster, all of Platte. Wevik Funeral Home in Chamberlain is in charge of arrangements. Emma Merritt SALEM Emma B. Merritt, 95, died Tuesday, May 10, 1994, in Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Salem. Emma Matthaei was born Jan. 31, 1899, in Holmes, Iowa.

She moved with her family to the Canistota area, when she was 3 years old. She married Earl V. Merritt on Feb. 11, 1920, in Canistota. He died March 11, 1974.

They farmed near Pukwana for nine years, before returning to the Salem area. They moved to Salem 30 years ago. She has been a resident of the nursing home in 1991. She was a member of the Salem United Church; a charter member of Salem Senior Citizens; a 49-year member of the Legion Auxiliary; and was a volunteer at the Colonial Manor. Survivors include one son, Clarence and his wife, Lois, of Sioux Falls; one daughter, Mrs.

Donald (Mae) Golden of Salem; seven grandchildren; nine greatgrandchildren; one brother, Frank and his wife, Rose, of Spencer; and one sister, Mabel Krantz of Salem. West a draftsman, died Wednesday, May 11, 1994, in Sioux Valley Hospital, of Crohn's Disease. Lynda Merrill was born July 27, 1952, in Sioux Falls. She graduated from Lincoln High School in 1970.

She attended the University of South Dakota for three Lynda Merrill Lynda Merrill uated from Southeast Area VoTech, with a degree in advertising design. She was employed as a draftsman for Electro-Magic in Vermillion for three years. She also worked for Mr. Print in Sioux Falls. She was a member of the Minnehaha Dollers Club.

Survivors include one son, James McNeely IV of Murdo; her parents, James and Loretta Merrill of Sioux Falls; two brothers: James J. II of Philadelphia; and Allen G. of Sioux Falls; and one sister, Barbara J. Merrill of Sioux Falls. Services will begin at 1:30 p.m.

Friday in the funeral home. Harold Larson Harold Lincoln Larson, 79, of 1411 Westward Ho, former president and owner of Kreiser Surgical, died Tuesday, May 10, 1994, in California. Mr. Larson was born Aug. 22, 1914, in Aberdeen.

In 1937, he graduated from St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minn. He served in Army Intelligence from 1940 to 1945. He had been president and owner of Kreiser Surgical. He spent his winters in La Quinta, Calif.

He was a member of the Boy Scouts and was presented his Eagle Scout badge by Admiral Richard E. Byrd. He was a member of the Rotary; Masons; El Riad Shrine; Minnehaha and Westward Ho Country Clubs in Sioux Falls; and La Quinta Country Club in La Quinta. Survivors include his wife, Verlyne; two sons: David and Robert; and one daughter, Kathryn. Private services will be in California.

STATE Cora Sanborn PIERRE Cora Geneva Sanborn, 70, died Sunday, May 8, 1994, at St. Mary's Hospital in Pierre. Cora Olson was born April 28, 1924, in Stephan. Her early childhood was spent in Stephan. They moved later to the Harrold and DeGrey area.

She attended Riverview School at DeGrey. She married Darrill Miller on Oct. 8, 1940. She married Robert Sanborn on Nov. 16, 1946.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert. Survivors include three sons: Richard Miller and his wife, Linda, and Dale Sanborn and his wife, Donna, all of Pierre; and Charles Sanborn and his wife, Pixie, of Missoula, two daughters: Mrs. Greg (Phyliss) Moir of Volga; and Carol of Lamar, 16 grandchildren; four greatgrandchildren; and one brother, Oran and his wife, Mina Mary, of Blunt. Friday in the Minnehaha Funeral Home in Colton. NUNDA Aletta Jeanetta Larson, 96, died Tuesday, May 10, 1994, in the Evergreen 1 Terrace Healthcare Center Madison. Aletta Opstedahl was born Nov. 17, 1897, in Decorah, Iowa. In 1915, she graduated from Luther Academy in Alberta Lea, Minn.

She married George Larson on Oct. 29, 1919, in Rapid City. He died in 1983. They farmed two miles southwest of Rutland. They later moved to a farm near Nunda.

In March 1993, she became a resident of the Evergreen Terrace. She was a member of Lake Madison Lutheran Church; Grace Lutheran Church in Nunda; and she was a former state chaplain of the Gideon Auxiliary. Survivors include two sons: Lester of Urbandale, Iowa; and David of Nunda; one daughter, Mrs. Erwin (Lorraine) Brandt of Garretson; 16 grandchildren; 30 six greatgreat-grandchildren; and one brother, Arnold of Piedmont. Heiertz, 67, a pharmacist, died Wednesday, May 11, 1994, in the Flandreau Municipal Hospital.

Mr. Heiertz was born May 7, 1927, in St. James, Minn. They moved to Mapleton, Minn. In 1944, they moved to Brookings, where he graduated from Brooking High School in 1945.

He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II for two years. He graduated from South Dakota State University in 1950, with a degree in pharmacy. He married Dorothea Wudel on June 11, 1950, in Parkston. They moved to Mankato, where he was a pharmacist for two years. He then became a manager of a drug store in Oelwein, Iowa.

In 1955, he moved to Flandreau, where he was a druggist for 32 years, owning and managing Heiertz Rexall Drug and the Clinic Pharmacy. He was a member of Second Presbyterian Church, the National Pharmacy Association, and the American Legion. Survivors include his wife, Dorothea of Flandreau; one son, James Jr. and his wife, Cheryl, of Flandreau; one daughter, Jill of Brookings; and six grandchildren: Mary, David, Hope, Amy, John and Joanna. Services will begin at 1 p.m.

REGION Maurine Haegele LESTER, Iowa Bertha Maurine Haegele, 90, died Tuesday, May 10, 1994, in the Rock Rapids, Iowa, Health Centre. Bertha Wick was born Feb.

16, 1904, in Lester. She grew up in Lester and graduated from Lester High School in 1923. She received a teaching certificate from Morningside College in Sioux City, Iowa. She returned to Lyon County and taught country school in the Lester and Alvord, Iowa, areas. She married Gustav Zornig on March 5, 1927, in Sioux City.

He died May 10, 1956. They farmed near Lester for 30 years. She married Harry Stuerman on June 18, 1962, in Sioux Falls. He died July 20, 1970. They made their home in Lester.

She married Otto Haegele on Nov. 22, 1974, in Lester. He died Jan. 21, 1994. They made their home in Lester, until their health began failing.

She became a resident of the nursing home Jan. 21, 1994. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, where she served as church treasurer for more than 30 years; a member of the Daughters of the Nile in Sioux Falls; and the Legion Auxiliary in Lester. Survivors include two sons: Harold Zornig and his wife, Mary, of Hull, Iowa; and William Zornig and his wife, Shirley, of Rock Rapids; three daughters: Mrs. Jess (Linnea) Cose of Larchwood, Iowa; Joyce Haegele of Jacksonville, and Mrs.

Charles (Jeanette) Stadfeld of Sioux Falls; 15 grandchildren; 24 greatgrandchildren; one sister, Helen Bruzer of Rock Rapids; two stepsons: Robert Stuerman of Sioux Falls; and Dwayne Stuerman of Rock Rapids; and one stepdaughter, Lois Wicklund of Batavia, Ill. Julius was born Dec. 6, 1954, in Sioux Falls. He grew up in Sioux Falls and attended Jefferson School and Washington High School. He graduated in 1973. He married Teresa Suing on June 29, 1973, in Sioux Falls.

He worked for Concrete Materials and then for Safety Kleen in Sioux Falls. In 1982, he moved to Arvada. He was a member of the Rocky Mountain Quarter Midget Racing Association. He was past president of the Ham Radio Operators Association in Sioux Falls. Survivors include his wife, Teresa of Arvada; two sons: Ryan and Nathan, both of Arvada; his parents, Lloyd and Phyllis Julius of Littleton, one brother, James of Dover, one sister, Jan Eitzen of Littleton; two brothersin-law: Bradley of Tempe, and Kevin Suing of Sioux Falls; and one sister-in-law, Cynthia Rippentrop of Sioux Falls.

Wilbert Fred Hilgemann, 77, retired farmer, died Monday, May 9, 1994, at Murray County Memorial Hospital in Slayton. Mr. Hilgemann was born May 14, 1916, in Breese, where he was raised and went to school. He married Esther Beckmann on June 29, 1940, in St. Charles, Ill.

They farmed near Carlyle, Ill. In 1959, they bought a farm in Rose Dell Township near Jasper, where they farmed until his retirement in 1988. They moved to an acreage in Sweet Township in Pipestone County, Minn. In December 1993, he moved to the Slayton Manor Care Center. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Jasper.

Survivors include his wife, Esther of Pipestone; one son, Marvin and his wife, Debby, of Pipestone; one daughter, Mrs. John (Marie) Sorvik of Frederick, and two grandchildren: Christopher and Michael Hilgemann.
